Yasas Abeywickrama

Yasas V. Abeywickrama wears many hats. He is an Information and Communications Technology (ICT) professional, was recognised in 2003 by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) as an up and coming business leader for the future and is currently the Director of the Young ICT Professionals Board of ACS. In 2009 he was named the Young Professional of the Year by Professions Australia. Yasas is also a writer and a mentor.

Yasas is a real demonstration of ICT being a truly global career. He has worked in the USA, UK , Sri Lanka & Australia, being trained in the USA and Malaysia and worked with clients such as British Telecom, Telstra and Siemens. His professional interests are in Project Management, Consulting and Entrepreneurship in the ICT sector. Yasas is currently working on a consulting start-up called Docs N’ Data and other entrepreneurship activities. Prior to this, he worked for Accenture, a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company. Yasas also had some exposure to ICT sector within the government during his stint with the South Australian government.

He is passionate about the ICT industry and the ACS and has served the Australian ICT industry in many capacities over the years. Aside from his current role as the Director, Young IT Professionals Board, he is also a Member of the ACS Congress. He was the Chairman – ACS Victorian Young ICT Committee in 2008, an ACS Victorian Board Member in 2008-2009 and an ACS South Australian Board Member in 2006-2007. Today, at 29 years of age, he is the most visible face of Australia’s Young ICT community and is considered one of the nation’s key young professional activists.
