What's the conference about?

Wireless communications is a primary solution to delivering broadband services to rural communities. The theme of this symposium is on both new, innovative technical research as well as on the delivery of practical technical solutions in often harsh environments. We are inviting your contribution to one of the technical topics of WCITD 2010 and we welcome you to participate in the conference. Your contribution will go through the normal review process associated with a quality international conference.

IFIP TC6 Student Travel Grant Programme

WCITD 2010 will offer two student travel grants under the IFIP TC6 Student Travel Grant Programme.

How to apply

Under the IFIP TC6 Student Travel Grant Programme, students or young researchers from an IFIP member country may apply for partial funding to assist them towards paying their travel and accommodation costs when attending the 3rd IFIP International Conference on Wireless Communications and Information Technology in Developing Countries (WCITD 2010), held under the umbrella of the IFIP World Computer Congress in Brisbane, Australia.

Young researchers are researchers who have not yet completed their studies up to, and including, a doctoral degree. Such persons would normally not be older than 35 years on the 1st October 2010. An Awards Committee reviews the application and awards a grant where the applicant would not otherwise have the resources to attend a conference or workshop, with benefits to both the student and the symposium.

Grants are for the applicants travel and lodging expenses only and will not exceed 750 € per grant. The maximum of the grant is fixed and any claims in excess of 750 € will not be considered.

Applications for grants will be evaluated by the Awards Committee comprising the IFIP WG 6.9 chair, Professor Ana Pont Sanjuán, and 2 nominated persons from the IFIP community. Grants will be awarded based on the committee's assessment of the student's genuine financial need, the potential benefit to the student's education, research, and career, and the potential benefit to the symposium. The committee will favour students who are (co-)authors of accepted papers and may decide to make only one award per university. A maximum of 2 awards in total will be made for the WCITD 2010 event.

There is no requirement that the Awards Committee makes any awards and awards may be made for less than the maximum. The decisions of the Awards Commitee are final and no correspondence will be entered into in regard to their decisions.

To apply for a grant, students should download the application form from the link below and e-mail it to Professor Ana Pont Sanjuán at apont@disca.upv.es. Applications are by 15 June 2010. The decision of the committee will only be made known at the time of the decision about paper acceptance.
